A slow first month during the soft-launch. Everything still is not up and running to the level that we would like (due to other time commitments, as this is obviously not a full-time job for anyone yet). Still, we have made some progress:
Financials
On the income side, there is not much to report. The only source of income the site would have right now would be from Google AdSense, and there has not been enough traffic (and nobody clicking on links) to bring in any revenue yet.
There are a couple of expenses to report. The first one, for $11.24, actually happened in October and should have been listed on last month's progress report. It was the two-year registration of the gettingtherefromhere.info domain name. The second expense, for $11.00, was to the local county recorder's office to register Getting There From Here as a business name.
November Income: $0
November Expenses: $22.24
Total Cash On Hand: $-22.24
What We've Done
We started customizing some of the sections of the site with "Who's Working On It" links and section-specific subsets of the blog. A few blog posts and some discussion kick-off in the forums have brought in a little bit of traffic. The site did manage 699 ad impression in November, during which time 19 unique individuals made a total of 57 visits to the site and viewed 369 pages.
What's Coming Up
Most of what we said last month is still coming up. We need to add more detailed "Who's Working On It" and expand it to all (or most) sections. We'll be adding some context ads in the forums and possibly on the main blog view to try to get a little bit of revenue. Hopefully some new blog posts and some new forum threads will be created, either by us or by members of our small (but growing) community.
The biggest thing upcoming is a revamped version of The Plan with more details for the steps we currently plan to take along the way to colonizing the galaxy. That's pretty much it for this month. Again, not much to report, but a few small steps have been made on what will be a very, very long journey.
