Here is an area that I really support... even if it just improves the quality of my life at the end, it would be nice to see humans break the supposed fundamental limitations of our short existence.

I agree... I've been an active supporter of the Methuselah Foundation (in terms of having donated money for SENS, which is now a separate organization), because I like what they're doing. I like that they are taking an engineering approach to solving the problems of aging, breaking aging down into a series of separate things to be combatted. Even if they don't find ways to help people live as long as they choose, their approach should still find ways to improve healthy lifespans and quality of life.

Sometimes I wish I knew enough about biotech to actively contribute, but I get pretty lost just reading their forums.

Honestly, I think your financial contribution is just as important, as it will help bring more people around to the belief that something can be done about it, and also enables more scientists to work on it through grants provided by the institute.
